Details.

The iris EFIS is a complete primary flight display in a single hole: attitude, airspeed, altitude, vertical speed and heading on one screen, from an AHRS and a GNSS receiver inside the instrument. This is the 80 mm version, with a 3.5 inch display. Nothing else has to be in the panel for it to work, and nothing else has to be working for it to keep working — the backup battery runs it for 3 to 5 hours after the aircraft supply is gone.

The essential picture

The PFD page lays out the data the way a pilot scans it: horizon in the middle, airspeed and altitude tapes either side, heading below, with a heading bug on the left knob and QNH on the right. The AHRS is the same sensor used by certified avionics manufacturers, and every unit goes through a full calibration before it leaves the bench.

Same hardware as the Pro

The iris EFIS and the iris EFIS Pro are the same instrument. The Pro unlocks navigation with your own airport and turnpoint files over 3D terrain, free airspace, a G-force page, a 50-flight logbook synced to LX Cloud and an info page with GPS status, OAT and density altitude. Buy the EFIS today and add the upgrade licence whenever you want it — no new hardware, no panel work.

Configured from a phone

The layout, the speed arcs and Vne line, the units and the pilot profiles are set over WiFi from any phone or tablet. What the manufacturer sets, the service shop can adjust and the pilot can personalise — each at their own level. If you would rather not buy a CAN2WiFi for a single instrument, order the iris layout configuration service with it and we set up the face and your aircraft's limits before it ships.

In the panel

  • Standard 80 mm cutout, 82 × 82 × 52 mm, 278 g
  • 3.5 inch transflective display
  • Built-in AHRS and GNSS, OAT input
  • 9–30 V DC, 250 mA at 12 V; backup battery 3–5 hours
  • LX one chip, 32 GB internal plus 32 GB SD card
  • CAN bus, WiFi, Bluetooth

Also available as the iris EFIS 57, in a 57 mm cutout. Non-TSO: for ultralight, light-sport and Experimental aircraft.

Questions pilots ask.

Which aircraft is the iris EFIS for?

Ultralight, light-sport and Experimental (homebuilt) aircraft — any non-certified installation. It is a Non-TSO instrument.

What panel hole does it need?

A standard 80 mm cutout; the iris EFIS 57 is the same instrument for a 57 mm cutout. Depth behind the panel is 52 mm plus connectors.

Does it keep working if the aircraft electrics fail?

Yes. The built-in backup battery runs the instrument for 3–5 hours after the 9–30 V supply is lost.

Can I upgrade it to the Pro later?

Yes — the EFIS and the EFIS Pro are the same instrument. The upgrade licence, tied to your serial number, switches on navigation over 3D terrain, airspace, the G-force page and the logbook with no new hardware.
